Exciting and basic group word games include noun speculating, story writing, and "don't complete the word" game.
Word games are really interesting games which can also improve a person's vocabulary abilities. Word games which do not require too many materials are especially beneficial for times when you and your friends or family members have nothing to do but wait for time to pass. This information will provide you some examples on entertaining and basic group word games.
Noun speculating
This kind of game involves guessing written words made by the participants in three rounds. To begin the game, prepare small pieces of paper where everybody can each write nouns. These pieces of paper are then positioned inside a small bag or any container. Then, the entire group will be split into 2 or more teams. On the first round, the first team to play chooses a member to pick a piece of paper from the bag or container. The gamer reads the word written on the paper without telling his team members. This gamer will then describe the word to his team members, and his team will guess the word for about one minute. A team can speculate as many words as they can within the period set. When the time expires, the next group will do the same thing and all the teams thereafter. When all groups have done the first round, the second round will then take place with another player picking a sheet of paper from the container. This gamer will explain the noun in a single word and his group members will all attempt to guess that word within 60 seconds. In the third round, a player will pick another piece of paper from the bag and explain the word to his group members only through body gestures. The same steps for rounds two and three are followed for the rest of the team until all rounds are completed. All scores, based on the number of nouns which were guessed correctly are then added, and the group with the highest score is the champion of the game.
Story writing
This game doesn't have any winner, but it will definitely amuse everybody after the game. Prepare several pieces of paper and a pen. The first participant will start the story by writing the first paragraph of his story. The next participant will then write down another paragraph of his own version of the story after the first player has written his. Every person will follow after the other, recording their own versions of the story, as well. When everyone is done with the writing, the story is then read aloud for everybody to hear and enjoy the various thoughts of the story.
"Never complete the word" game
In this game, you will need nothing but gamers and vocabulary abilities. This game involves providing letters which will begin a word. For example, the first player will choose the letter A and say this loudly for everybody to hear. The next player will then say another letter which will develop the beginning of a word along with the letter A, such as the letter G to create "Ag" that can be the start of the word Agrarian or Agriculture. You must not say a letter that will complete the word or you'll lose a point. A gamer can challenge the previous gamer if he believes there is no such word for the letter he added. If that previous gamer can give a word, then the challenger loses a point. In case a participant can't add any letter or is required to complete the word, then that gamer also loses a point.
